I told myself after I found out I wasn't going to be on the statewide debate that I wouldn't post anything for a couple of days because I didn't want to vent. Sadly I didn't heed my own advice. I made a post last night I've deleted because I basically sounded like a grade school kid throwing a temper tantrum, and I shouldn't have. It was a combination of some emails I read last night where people expressed their frustration about issues, along with reading the story about Ford and Corker meeting up on Friday where Ford crashed Corker's press conference. I just wanted so badly to be able to participate in this debate, but you know what? The emails of support I've received after being denied the debate are truly energizing. We're only a couple of weeks away from the election, and I can't express what everyone's support means to me.
I have received emails from people handing out fliers, spreading the word, and even someone who made a yard sign for the campaign. You know, I often get asked what separates me from the other candidates, and I would say it's because I "get it". I understand that illegal immigrants are destroying this country. I understand that our Congress wastes TONS of money and exceeds their Constitutional authority. I understand that we are in a holy war. I understand that madmen and dictators only understand force and that when you go to war, you unleash your entire arsenal. It's not just me though, because there are SO many people I hear from who feel and think the same way.
I often hear about the need of a viable third party. Until more of us take a chance and vote outside of the two party system, this will never happen. If we are timid about it and think it will be a repeat of the votes for Ross Perot giving the election to Bill Clinton, true change won't take place. We have about two weeks left to band together and send a real message. I urge everyone to vote on principle and not party. Change won't take place until this is done.
